Dead air is a big problem on most repeaters especially for new hams. Worse, when they finally get up the courage to put out their call sign, no one answers. We seem to be a community of listeners rather than talkers. How many new friends have you missed out meeting over the years by remaining silent?
Ham radio has survived over one-hundred years welcoming new licensees into our ranks. It will take the continued fellowship among those who share this interest to grow our hobby today and ensure its future existence.
Let the new year’s resolution be to make the time to take a new operator under our wings sharing our mutual interest in this great hobby. We never have too many friends.
